2023 SBS Entertainment Awards Reveals 7 Daesang Candidates, Netizens Question This Person’s Absence

Seven candidates for the 2023 SBS Entertainment Awards have been announced

Lee Kyung-gyu appeared in the teaser video for the 2023 SBS Entertainment Awards released on December 15th and introduced the qualifications for the Daesang winner. He said, “Not everyone can receive Daesang”, adding “This person has to work diligently for the viewers and openly showcase everything without hiding they have to raise the ratings. They have to bet it all to bring laughter to viewers”. Lee Kyung-gyu then listed out the candidates for this year’s Daesang.

Lee Hyun-yi from “Kick A Goal” and “Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny” gained the first Daesang nomination in her career. “Running Man” Kim Jong-kook, “My Little Old Boy” & “Dolsing Fourmen” Tak Jae-hoon, and “My Little Old Boy” Shin Dong-yeop also appeared in the nomination list.

Seo Jang-hoon, who is active in “My Little Old Boy”, “Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny” and “Love My Body”, and Lee Sang-min (“Dolsing Fourmen” & “My Little Old Boy”) attracted keen attention as they also became Daesang candidates. In addition, “Running Man” Yoo Jae-suk, who won Daesang last year, got nominated again this year.

In the meantime, many people wonder why Ji Seok-jin, the oldest member in “Running Man”, once again failed to enter the Daesang nomination list. Ji Seok-jin has been mentioned as a broadcaster good enough to receive a Daesang ever since “Running Man” entered the stable broadcasting period, but he received disappointing results every year.

In particular, Ji Seok-jin was a prominent candidate for Daesang at the 2021 SBS Entertainment Awards. As he went home with only the Honorary Employee Award, netizens raised controversy over mistreatment toward Ji Seok-jin.

Even though Ji Seok-jin was nominated for Daesang last year, he was the only nominee to return home empty-handed. Apart from Kim Joon-ho who won Daesang, Tak Jae-hoon was honored with Producer Award, and Lee Sang-min received Honorary Employee Award.

Ji Seok-jin made his debut as a comedian in the 10th KBS Recruitment in 1993. He has been active in various programs, such as “Happy Sunday”, “Star Golden Bell”, “Running Man”, etc., for 30 years but has never won any Daesang.
