ZEROBASEONE and FIFTY FIFTY, undisputed rookie award

At the “38th Golden Disc Awards” held at the Jakarta International Stadium in Indonesia on Jan 6th, both ZEROBASEONE and FIFTY FIFTY received the Rookie Artist of the Year award. These two teams were recognized for their post-debut achievements at the Golden Disc Awards, where rookies are selected based on sales and evaluation scores.

ZEROBASEONE, born through overwhelming support from fans in 184 countries and regions via Mnet’s “Boys Planet”, solidified their position as the “Best Rookie” by continuously breaking K-pop records since their debut. Notably, their debut album “YOUTH IN THE SHADE” sold about 1.24 million copies within a day, and they became “Double Million Seller” with their second mini-album “MELTING POINT” by selling a total of 2,131,352 copies in the first week. With the highest album sales among rookie award nominees, ZEROBASEONE secured the Rookie Artist of the Year award based on their outstanding achievements.

ZEROBASEONE said, “Thanks to ZEROSE (fandom name). We’re grateful. ZEROBASEONE will continue to work hard and not forget this honor. We’ll always be by the side of our fans.”

FIFTY FIFTY also embraced the Golden Disc Rookie Artist of the Year trophy. The title track “Cupid” from the album “The Beginning: Cupid”, which was released on Feb 24th last year, gained popularity with a sped-up version on TikTok, reaching the 17th position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and setting a record for the longest-charting period by a K-pop girl group at 25 weeks. Anticipation surrounds FIFTY FIFTY’s future activities as they undergo a new restructuring centered around Keena.

Keena confessed, “I’m so honored to receive the rookie award, which is an award that can be received only once in my whole life. I want to express my gratitude to CEO Jeon Hong-joon, Attrakt family, my parents and family members for always supporting me. I’m always thankful to fans who helped me stand up again. Thank you so much. I’ll repay you guys with good music and albums in the future.”

Rookie award nominees were selected from individuals and teams who debuted during the evaluation period. The winners were determined by combining 30% music streaming, 30% album sales and 40% scores from the judging panel.
