“Your Name” director Makoto Shinkai boasted IVE’s autographs “I’ll work hard from tomorrow”

Director Makoto Shinkai had IVE’s autographs.

On the morning of April 28th, director Shinkai posted proof shots of an album with IVE’s autographs on his personal Twitter account.

Director Shinkai expressed his gratitude, “I said many times in interviews with the Korean media that I like IVE. Oh my god! I received autographs from IVE members. Thank you.“

He could not hide his joy, “Is it okay for this to happen? I’ll work hard from tomorrow.“

On the back of the album with IVE’s autographs, the members wrote, “(In English) Thank you for listening to our songs. We were really shocked that you know us. (In Japanese) Thank you.“

Previously, director Makoto Shinkai said in an interview with the Korean media, “I’ve been listening to IVE’s latest single ‘I AM’ the most lately. I’ve been listening to it every day since a week ago. However, I don’t know the members’ names. I feel that the members are very pretty, beautiful and powerful. I’m insensitive to knowing people’s names.“

Meanwhile, “Suzume” is Shinkai’s third collaboration with Radwimps and Tanaka, after “Your Name” (2016) and “Weathering with You” (2019), and was inspired by the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. “Suzume” surpassed 4.97 million cumulative Korean audiences.
