MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Dearest,’ starring Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin, is coming to an end. ‘My Dearest’ is a historical melodrama about a couple who are separated.
‘My Dearest’ consists of a total of 20 episodes (10 in Part 1 and 10 in Part 2). After its premiere on August 4th, it received positive response from viewers. After Part 2 started on October 13th, it continued to maintain popularity with viewership ratings in the 10% range.
The success of ‘My Dearest’ is attributed to the touching and heartfelt melodramatic acting of Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin. As ‘My Dearest’ is approaching its end, the question of who will captivate K-drama viewers in the Friday-Saturday time slot. After the end of ‘My Dearest,’ MBC and SBS will compete with their new dramas on November 24th. Different dramas and actors will go head-to-head.
First, MBC will present ‘The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract.’ This drama tells the story of a contract marriage between the 19th-century girl Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young), who has transcended death and arrived in 2023 South Korea, and the emotionless master Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk).
‘The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract’ stars Lee Se-young, who led the success of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Red Sleeves’ in 2021, along with Lee Jun-ho. She is expected to showcase her acting skills as she transitions between historical and modern settings. Bae In-hyuk is also expected to exhibit a different side of his acting compared to his previous roles.
Following ‘The Escape of 7,’ ‘My Demon’ will be broadcast. ‘My Demon’ is a fantasy romantic comedy that unfolds through a contract marriage between the demon-like chaebol heiress Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung), and the demon Jung Gu-won (Song Kang), who lost his abilities.
The teaser videos and other promotional materials have raised expectations for Kim Yoo-jung and Song Kang’s chemistry. Particularly, viewers are looking forward to Kim Yoo-jung’s return to the small screen on SBS after her last historical drama, ‘Lovers of the Red Sky,’ ended in October 2021.
As Namgoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin’s ‘My Dearest’ is ending, the focus is now on who will capture viewers in the Friday-Saturday time slot after them, with Lee Se-young and Bae In-hyuk in ‘The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract’ and Kim Yoo-jung and Song Kang in ‘My Demon.’ As they start airing on November 24th in the same time slot (at 10 PM KST), the result of this competition raises expectations.
