White coffin from BTS Jung Kook’s ‘SEVEN’ MV sold out, netizens in awe of the idol’s influence

White coffins become a hot commodity on the market after being used as a prop in BTS Jung Kook’s ‘SEVEN’ MV.

With an immense influence, BTS Jung Kook can kick up sales of almost anything, ranging from food to drinks. However, after the release of the “SEVEN” MV, a particular prop from the MV has also been sold out. This one is particularly more controversial than the other.

In his latest “SEVEN” MV, Jung Kook plays a guy falling deep in love with his lover (portrayed by Han So Hee). He follows her everywhere, trying to mend their relationship after a fallout. One scene shows the male idol opening his own coffin to say he will love her seven days a week.

Surprisingly, the scene has made the white coffin a new sought-after item on the market.

On July 30, The Economic Times reported that coffins at a store were sold out; the owner made a TikTok video to report on the situation.

A coffin is reportedly sold at KRW5 million ($3,930). Because most of BTS’ fans are in their teenage years, the purchase decisions have drawn mixed reactions.

In Korea, netizens are speculating about what the coffin may be useful for. Some suggest using it as a storage space, while others are purely in awe of Jung Kook’s influence to drive up sales of almost anything.

On July 14, Jung Kook released his solo single “SEVEN” and its MV, drawing positive reactions from fans around the world. It is a creative arrangement with a catchy melody, helping the song break into Korean and worldwide digital charts. The MV for “SEVEN” has received 122 million views on YouTube, as of August 1.
