Vintage shop under controversy for selling (G)I-DLE’s used outfit without permission

A vintage shop that promoted by uploading posts selling female idols’ stage outfits on SNS is being criticized by fans. In response, the agency also took a tough response.

Selling clothes worn by female idols became known after a post spread on various communities on Feb 18th. The post revealed that a select shop was selling dresses worn as stage outfits by (G)I-DLE Shuhua.

The vintage shop mentioned “(G)I-DLE” and “Shuhua” on its official SNS for promotional purposes, “You can find one-piece products worn by (G)I-DLE Shuhua at our online store.”

A consumer inquired whether these products were worn by (G)I-DLE or if they are just similar to (G)I-DLE’s costumes. The select shop replied, “The products were actually worn by (G)I-DLE.”

However, as this fact spread on various communities and criticism from fans intensified, the select shop explained, “They’re clothes from the same brand as the ones worn by idol groups. It has nothing to do with the agency or the stylist.”

Regarding this, the agency Cube Entertainment announced its position on the controversy on Feb 19th.

Cube explained, “We confirmed that in the process of disposing of clothes stored in external warehouses, all clothes that should be discarded were recycled and flowed into export and domestic vintage shops due to the error of the intermediary clothing collection company.”

Cube continued, “In the case of the vintage shop, we plan to take strong legal action against the sale of (G)I-DLE’s names and photos for profit, regardless of how the outfits were obtained.”
