Virtual casting of “The Glory” middle-aged version draws explosive responses from netizens

What if there is “The Glory” with a middle-aged cast lineup?

Netflix’s “The Glory”, which depicts the revenge plan meticulously designed by Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), has recently concluded. While many viewers are satisfied with the ending, some are so upset about no longer seeing Dong Eun and the five villains that they hope for an additional season.

Perhaps due to such regrets, drama fans are drawn by a recent post titled “Virtual casting of “The Glory’ middle-aged version” on the online community theqoo.

In the drama, Moon Dong Eun (35 years old) returned to take revenge against the school violence perpetrators after 20 years. However, in this imaginary ‘middle-aged version’, the timeline of the revenge is set for 30 years later.

An anonymous “casting director” recommended actress Lee Young Ae to play the middled-age version Moon Dong Eun. It is because the actress’s image suits the description of Dong Eun, who plans her revenge calmly and carefully. Lee Young Ae’s portrayal of Geum Ja in “Lady Vengeance”, who holds a burning desire for vengeance for 13 years, seems to have influenced this casting decision.

go hyun jung

Actress Go Hyun Jung was named as a nominee for the role of Park Yeon Jin, the leader of the bully gang. Go Hyun Jung, who has a sophisticated style and an urban image, used to perform an impressive villain role in MBC’s drama  “Queen Seon Duk”. In “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2: Crime and Punishment” and “Reflection of You”, the actress perfectly portrayed characters who can do anything to get what they want.

Jin Seo-yeon

There is also an opinion that actress Jin Seo Yeon, who played the drug addict Bo Ryeong in the movie “Believer”, could express Lee Sa Ra well. This is because there are not many actresses who can properly express the dual aspect of Lee Sa Ra, who goes to her father’s church to pray but takes drugs behind his back, and her fierce expressions.

Actress Oh Na Ra was selected by netizens for the role of stewardess Choi Hye Jeong. Both Jin Jin Hee played by Oh Na Ra in JTBC’s “Sky Castle” and “The Glory” Choi Hye Jung are described as cheerful and lively characters who engage in illegal activities alongside those with powers. One more common thing about these two characters is that they are gossip informants in their surroundings. Therefore, many drama fans believe Oh Na Ra would excellently digest the character Choi Hye Jung the way she did with Jin Jin Hee.

jeon no min

In addition, actor Jeon No Min, who captivates viewers with calm acting and his low-pitched voice in every work, was mentioned as a candidate for the role of Joo Yeo Jeong, who quietly helps Dong Eun with her revenge. Actor Ji Jin Hee, who has an intellectual image, was highly recommended to play Park Yeon Jin’s husband Ha Do Yeong.

In response to this virtual casting, netizens reacted enthusiastically, saying “Wow, Lee Young Ae would suit the role”, “I want to hear Lee Young Ae say Dong Eun’s lines in Geum Ja’s tone”, “It’s gonna be an awesome work…”, “Just imagining it makes me think it would be a nice drama”, “I got goosebumps when someone mentioned Jin Seo Yeon”, “Go Hyun Jung plays Park Yeon Jin?”, “Let’s make a drama like this”, “I want to see this combination of actors”, etc.
