Unnecessary 19 + Scenes in ‘The Escape Of The Seven’ Frustrate the Audience

The screenwriter is believed to be excessively using shocking scenes to attract the audience

The Escape Of The Seven is coming to the end of its first part, yet there are still many secrets to be revealed, with unexpected twists leaving the audience truly “shocked.” In the latest episodes, after Matthew Lee (Uhm Ki Joon) publicly revealed his true identity as “K,” it seems like there are very few characters left on the righteous side.

After ruthlessly dealing with Kang Ki Tak, one of the few remaining protagonists in the story, Matthew Lee (Uhm Ki Joon) and Geum Ra Hee (Hwang Jung-eum) indulge in a “sweet” time at their private villa. Ra Hee is dressed in a revealing nightgown, offering Matthew a drink, but he insists that all he needs right now is Ra Hee’s “lips.” The two immediately share a passionate kiss. Afterward, Ra Hee confesses that she has only loved Matthew all along, accompanied by their intimate gestures.

The audience is genuinely disgusted by the romantic scenes in The Escape Of The Seven, especially given that Matthew Lee’s true identity has been exposed. Ra Hee’s willingness to be intimate with this man is hard to digest, not to mention the crimes they both committed, their attempts to manipulate, harm, and eliminate each other. In reality, Matthew is significantly younger than Ra Hee, which adds tension to their relationship. According to the revelations, Matthew was K, a young man who underwent surgery to disguise himself as Lee Hwi Soo.

In truth, the relationship between Matthew and Ra Hee has already made the audience uncomfortable. Many believe that these hot scenes between the couple (even before Matthew’s true identity and age were revealed) are not essential for the plot, and the scriptwriter is excessively relying on shocking moments to captivate the audience.
