“Unanswered Questions” is preparing an official position regarding the controversy over biased attitudes in FIFTY FIFTY broadcast

“Unanswered Questions” is expected to release an explanation for the controversy over biased broadcasting soon.

On August 23rd, a representative of the current affairs program “Unanswered Questions” team said to Munhwa Ilbo that they are preparing to announce an official position.

On the previous day, an SBS public relations official told Munhwa Ilbo, “Regarding the controversy over biased broadcasting, we cannot say anything at the moment”, adding “Internal discussions are probably ongoing, and they are preparing for an official position”.

They added, “Therefore, the public relations department is still waiting for the final result”.

Earlier on the 19th, “Unanswered Questions” introduced a special episode dealing with FIFTY FIFTY’s contract lawsuit.

The broadcast covered the series of incidents surrounding the contract dispute between the girl group FIFTY FIFTY, their agency Attrakt and the outsourcing company The Givers.

However, after the broadcast, viewers voiced complaints over the program’s biased attitude towards FIFTY FIFTY. They poured criticism on the viewers’ bulletin board of SBS, pointing out that “Unanswered Questions” mentioned the case as if FIFTY FIFTY were the victims although the issue is currently under trial.

In particular, even the Korea Management Federation Corporation and the Korea Entertainment Producer’s Association also asked SBS to take action against “Unanswered Questions” producers for not fulfilling responsibility, such as ensuring fairness, in broadcasting.

As of the morning of the 23rd, the fourth day after the broadcast, thousands of complaints related to the broadcast have been submitted on the viewers’ bulletin board of the program, but both SBS and the production team of “Unanswered Questions” have not released any official position.

In this regard, a broadcasting official said, “The production team must be deeply concerned about how to explain the issue”, adding “However, there’s a ‘golden time’ for explanations. Considering the enthusiastic engagement of netizens, if a reasonable and acceptable explanation doesn’t come out at the appropriate time, there’s a high possibility that viewers will lose trust in ‘Unanswered Questions’ and boycott the program.”
