As the Japanese adaptation of K-drama “True Beauty” was announced, various mixed reactions started to pour in.

Back in late 2020 – early 2021, the K-drama adaptation of webtoon “True Beauty”, starring Cha Eunwoo, Moon Ga-young, and Hwang In-yeop was released, gaining global attention. Now, a Japanese live-action of “True Beauty” has also been announced, sparking discussion once again.

So far, Koki – the daughter of Japanese top stars Takuya Kimura and Shizuka Kudo, has been rumored to star in this Japanese version, leading to much excitement among K-drama fanatics and fans of the Japanese showbiz.

However, negative comments also started to pour in, as people criticized the story of “True Beauty” and called it “overrated”.

“So many good stories deserving to be adapted, why do they insist on this one?”, a comment, which received almost 1,000 likes, said. “No hate on the actress but I’m so tired of seeing ‘True Beauty’”, said another, who received over 300 likes.
