Actor Kim Sun-ho, who suspended his activities last year due to his private life controversy, apologized with tears ahead of the full-fledged resumption of his activities.
A press call for the stage play “Touch the Void” was held at 3 p.m. today (July 20th) at Art One Theater 2 in Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Director Kim Dong-yeon, actors Kim Seon-ho, Shin Sung-min, Lee Hwi-jong, Lee Jin-hee, Oh Jung-taek, Jung Hwan, Cho Hoon and Jung Ji-woo attended the event.
Following the demonstration of the highlight scenes, the director and the actors shared their own confession at the event. Since it’s been about a year since Kim Seon-ho met reporters, he prepared his remarks and brought them up first.
Kim Sun-ho, who came up to the stage first, said, “I’m sorry. I stepped out because I thought it was my duty to greet everyone first before starting the meeting. I’m a little nervous. I wrote this down on a piece of paper because I thought I might be rambling. I hope you understand with a broad heart,” he said.
“It’s not a big deal,” he added. “First of all, I’m sorry and sorry to say this at the press call. From spring to summer this year, many people have worked hard to make this play. I’m sorry to the team and everyone again because I feel like I’m becoming someone here,” he apologized.
Finally, he said, “Thank you so much for coming and I’m truly sorry to have bothered so many people with negative news. And while looking back on time, I have reflected on my shortcomings a lot. What I can say is that I will try to become a better actor and a better person. Once again, thank you for coming and I’m sorry,” he apologized repeatedly.
Meanwhile, the play “Touch the Void” is based on the true survival story of Jo Simpson and Simon Yates who climbed the western ice wall of the Ciula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in 1985, when no one climbed it. The play has been opened on July 8th.
Fans are already enthusiastic about Kim Sun-ho’s return. Kim Sun-ho played the role of “Jo,” a young mountaineer isolated in a snow mountain due to a distressing accident in the plot, and all shows he appears in were sold out. In addition, the audience can also see billboards of fans cheering for his resumption of activities near the theater hall.
