Top 10 Most Popular Korean Historical Dramas In Japan: No.10 “Mr. Queen”, No.1 Is?

Here are the Top 10 Best Historical K-dramas selected by Japanese viewers

Japanese website Rankoo recently conducted a survey on “Top 10 most popular Korean historical dramas of all time”.

As a result, various familiar names, including the very old works, appeared on the list. Ranking from No.10 to No.5, there were “Mr. Queen”, “Hur Jun, The Original Story”, “The Crowned Clown”, “Hong Gil-dong”, “Empress Ki” and “Hwarang”.

Lee Joon Gi Moon Lovers

No.4 went to “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo”, which attracted keen attention at the time of its broadcast with a splendid cast lineup including Lee Joon-gi, IU, Kang Ha-neul, Nam Joo-hyuk, etc. This drama was based on the Chinese novel Bu Bu Jing Xin by Tong Hua.

Ranking No.3, “Flowers of the Prison” is one of the most successful 2016 dramas in Korea and it also gained huge love from Japanese fans. It achieved double-digit ratings with all episodes with the highest peak of 23.8%.

Dong Yi

No.1 and No.2 are considered legendary historical works. No.2 “Dong Yi” starred Han Hyo-joo as the female lead. It was a part of the project to celebrate MBC’s 49th anniversary. As the drama made a big hit, Han Hyo-joo also rose to stardom.

The long-awaited No.1 belongs to “Dae Jang Geum”, which was introduced to viewers in 2003. This drama is considered one of the proponents of the Korean Wave in Asia.
