This Week Fashion Best: Ahn Yu-jin vs. Worst: Go Hyun-jung

YTN Entertainment reporters are back with 'Y-Ranking', a segment where they review celebrity fashion from the past week

Despite the alternating heat and rain this week, the stars’ fashion remained dazzling. The best-dressed star this week is IVE’s Ahn Yu-jin in her sky-blue dress, while the worst-dressed is actress Go Hyun-jung, who drew disappointment with her rather unconventional outfit.

Best – IVE’s Ahn Yu-jin

Kang Nae-ri, Reporter: This look is like a breath of fresh air in the sweltering summer heat. The sky-blue tube top dress, perfectly suited for a cool-toned goddess, paired with silver jewelry, looks endlessly transparent and luxurious.

Oh Ji-won, Reporter: The combination of the sky-blue dress color, silver jewelry, and lush black long hair is harmonious without any one element overpowering the others. It’s the perfect example of a ‘cool tone’ styling. The bold yet not overly flashy jewelry is a great choice for a tube top dress that could otherwise look too plain.

Kim Sung-hyun, Reporter: It feels like a Disney princess has stepped out of the screen. The light sky-blue dress with its intricate bead detailing gives the impression of stars in a clear early evening sky. Ahn Yu-jin’s clear and pure face adds the final touch to this perfect look.

Choi Bo-ran, Reporter: She looks like a mermaid who has walked out of the sea. The sequined sky-blue tube top dress and the sparkling bead necklace create a fairytale-like atmosphere. Despite her long black hair, her cool-toned skin makes her look refreshing, and her bright smile is more radiant than any accessory.

Good – Lim Ji-yeon

Kang Nae-ri, Reporter: Although she wore a loose-fit shirt, the bold belt makes her waist look slim. The combination of white and black with a burgundy tote bag prevents the look from being too plain, making it well-balanced.

Oh Ji-won, Reporter: The wide-fit look accentuates her slim figure. The hairstyle that exposes her neck adds elegance. Choosing a burgundy bag as a stylish point was a smart move.

Kim Sung-hyun, Reporter: Lim Ji-yeon‘s fashion exudes the aura of a ‘professional’ who can accomplish anything. The asymmetric blouse with rolled-up sleeves gives a cool and sophisticated look, and the big buckle belt in black and white tones breaks the monotony. The deep red bag as a point completes the excellent coordination.

Choi Bo-ran, Reporter: The overall loose fit doesn’t look bulky at all. The belt gives a clear point without being overbearing, and the lack of accessories enhances the chic vibe.

So-so – Kep1er’s Choi Yu-jin

Kang Nae-ri, Reporter: It feels like too much. The checkered pattern of the two-piece is already flashy, and the multiple frills make it look excessive. Cutting off two layers from the skirt would have made it a more cheerful look without being overwhelming.

Oh Ji-won, Reporter: It’s quite difficult to pull off a sophisticated look with a blue checkered pattern. The combination of a voluminous, long skirt and chunky sneakers is also disappointing.

Kim Sung-hyun, Reporter: It’s refreshing and cheerful, almost like going on a picnic and forgetting the heat. However, the excessive check pattern and the layered skirt can be a bit too much, creating a somewhat dizzying effect.

Choi Bo-ran, Reporter: The frills and check patterns combined make it look overdone. The feminine look of the hair and makeup doesn’t match the chunky sneakers, making the whole outfit look disjointed.

Bad – Lee Jong-suk

Kang Nae-ri, Reporter: Even though both pieces are denim, the different tones make them look mismatched. The ribbon and accessories on the waist look out of place.

Oh Ji-won, Reporter: Denim-on-denim is a challenging style to pull off and requires careful coordination. Using different colored denim for the top and bottom or utilizing empty spaces could have been effective. It seems Lee Jong-suk missed all the tips for stylishly matching denim-on-denim. Even the ribbon turned out to be a burden instead of a highlight.

Kim Sung-hyun, Reporter: “I have a present for you, and it’s me,” might be what Lee Jong-suk is saying, but denim-on-denim with a denim ribbon could be a bit overwhelming.

Choi Bo-ran, Reporter: The slightly different color tones of the top and bottom detract from the harmony that’s key to denim-on-denim fashion. The thick-looking fabric combined with boots adds to the stuffiness. The most regrettable part is that the large denim ribbon is all that remains in memory.

Worst – Go Hyun-jung

Kang Nae-ri, Reporter: The top alone is confusing, and the bottom alone is confusing, but together they double the confusion.

Oh Ji-won, Reporter: It’s definitely a bold fashion choice. The unusual fit, the awkward pattern of the pants, and the coat that flutters to the ankles all look odd.

Kim Sung-hyun, Reporter: Although Go Hyun-jung has recently been gaining attention on social media for her natural yet sophisticated looks, this outfit is disappointing. The outerwear, reminiscent of a conductor’s coat, combined with leaf-patterned white pants, doesn’t make sense.

Choi Bo-ran, Reporter: I applaud her bold outfit choice, but the coordination itself raises many questions. Why the long-tailed coat? Why the Aladdin-like leaf-patterned pants?
