“Youth historical drama” can now be called a genre. In a hypothetical time and space based on historical facts, young and ambitious protagonists love each other and grow. The atmosphere is generally light and full of romance.
“The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” is about an incident that takes place when the owners of a guesthouse called Ihwawon Inn, which breaks stereotypes and borders with secrets, gather to find Lee Seol who disappeared 13 years ago.
There are two main stories in “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse”. One is the heart-throbbing romance between Yoon Dan Oh (Shin Ye Eun) and three flower scholars. Kang San (Ryeoun), Jung Yu Ha (Jung Gun Joo) and Kim Shi Yeol (Kang Hoon), who have different personalities, get close to Yoon Dan Oh in different ways. The other axis is the search for a character named “Lee Seol”.
Since romance and mystery go together, the combination between the two stories is the most important, but this combination is not natural until episode 4. However, the mystery is exciting. The reasons for each of the people chasing Lee Seol are clear.
On the other hand, the romance development is not smooth. Now, the scholar who is most likely to be associated with Dan Oh is Kang San, but since we do not know his true identity, it is still unclear why Kang San keeps an eye on Dan Oh and how he feels.
