The reason why Lee Joon-ho received a standing ovation even though he won Best Actor and missed the Grand Prize

‘2022 APAN Star Awards’ Best Actor was already a very valuable achievement for Lee Joon-ho even when he failed to reach the Daesang.

Lee Joon-ho, actor and member of boy group 2PM, has won 7 awards this year with MBC’s drama “The Red Sleeve”.

The 2022 APAN Star Awards, which was held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do on the afternoon of September 29th, selected the winners among all Korean drama contents aired on terrestrial channels, cable channels, and OTT platforms from March 2021 to July 2022. At this award ceremony, Lee Joon-ho proudly lifted the trophy for Best Actor in the Miniseries category with MBC’s drama “The Red Sleeve” and proved his presence as an irreplaceable actor.

MBC’s “The Red Sleeve” drew much attention even before its official broadcast and became one of the most anticipated dramas in the second half of 2021 as it is Lee Joon-ho’s comeback work after being discharged from the military.

Transforming into King Jeongjo Yi San, Lee Joon-ho delicately expressed the emotions of his character and mesmerized the viewers with his heavy acting skills. Thanks to his amazing performances, Lee Joon-ho gained recognition as a lead actor after helping MBC record double-digit ratings for the first time in three years with “The Red Sleeve”.

As a result, he won Best Actor and Best Couple at the 2021 MBC Drama Awards, as well as Best Actor at the 34th Korea PD Awards and the 2022 Brand Customer Loyalty Awards.

In addition, Lee Joon-ho wrote a new history as he became the first singer-turned-actor to win Best Actor (Television) at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards. Apart from this, he was also honored with the Tiktok Popularity Award, which was more meaningful as it was his first solo popularity award.

At the 2022 APAN Star Awards this time, Lee Joon-ho won his 7th trophies with the drama “The Red Sleeve”.

Lee Joon-ho, who debuted as a member of the boy group 2PM in 2008, has solidified his position as an actor after starring in various works of different genres, such as the 2013 movie “Cold Eyes” (as Detective Daramjwi – Squirrel), KBS2’s “Good Manager”, JTBC’s “Rain or Shine”, SBS’s “Wok of Love”, tvN’s “Confession”, etc.

Lee Joon-ho won SBS’s “Superstar Survival” in 2006 and officially debuted in 2PM in 2008. He is also known as a versatile idol who not only has stable vocal and excellent dance skills but is also passionate and hard-working. In fact, he has made lots of efforts to set a firm position in JYP, an agency specializing in producing singers, as an actor.

Enlisting in the military after receiving favorable reviews for his natural and solid acting skills, Lee Joon-ho selected MBC’s “The Red Sleeve” as his comeback drama right after getting discharged in March last year and successfully proved his unique charm.

Lee Joon-ho recently confirmed his appearance in JTBC’s new drama project “King The Land”, which is scheduled to air its first episode in the first half of 2023. In this work, he plays the role of The King Group’s heir Goo Won, who has everything, including an elegant and charismatic appearance as well as impressive intelligence. His partner will be played by Girls’ Generation member Im Yoon-ah.

Attention is focused on what Lee Joon-ho, who will show his true value as a trustworthy actor, will perform in his next series “King The Land”.
