The reason why Jung-kook made Paik Jong-won laughed: “BTS has been working so hard…”

Cuisine researcher Paik Jong-won has claimed to be a dedicated chef for BTS.

On Feb 16th, a video titled “Chipotle? (X) Chicotle! (O) I tried making the menu Jungkook ate.” was uploaded on the YouTube channel “Paik’s Cuisine“.

Paik Jong-won said, “There was something that became a hot topic a while ago,” adding, “There is a burrito chain called Chipotle in the U.S., and it’s become a funny name because of Jungkook.”

He said, “Jungkook is good at English, I think he did it on purpose. He called Chipotle Chicotle. As expected, that word is changed right away because BTS said it was Chicotle,” he said. Recently, a video clip of BTS member Jungkook saying “Chicotle” while having lunch in the U.S. was released, and the brand that saw it changed its official SNS account name to “Chicotle,” drawing attention.

Paik Jong-won said, “BTS is actually spreading Hallyu content and Korean culture around the world, and they are working so hard,” adding, “At BTS’s scale, isn’t there supposed to be a chef following them to prepare their lunch? Should I follow them and cook for them?” He expressed his extraordinary affection.

He then said, “They are trying their best like that to promote Korean content, I shouldn’t be making YouTube content here right now. I should follow BTS around and make them lunch every day,” he said. “I’ll go whenever they call me. I’m serious here, why don’t you believe me?”

In the meantime, he remade the Chipotle recipe as similarly as possible with ingredients that can be easily obtained. Paik Jong-won said, “It tastes similar, but I don’t recommend copying this. It’s better to plan for a trip to the U.S,” he said.

During the cooking process, chef Paik said, “Among BTS, Jin is especially good at challenging food. They really like Chinese food, but why do they hate cilantro (go-su)? It’s because they’re masters (go-su) themselves,” he made a dad joke, causing laughter.

Paik Jong-won collaborated with BTS in January last year while working on the Handon Back Leg K-ham project at SBS’s “Matnam Square.” Because of its dryness, the pig’s hind legs with low sales are turned into “back hams,” and the “BTS effect” has caused a sold-out chaos.

In June, Paik Jong-won also appeared on BTS’s own entertainment show “Run BTS” to promote kimchi.
