The military denies claims that BTS Jin’s training center asked fans to refrain from sending him letters
The military addressed reports that the 5th Division Recruit Training Center, where BTS’s Jin was enlisted, asked fans to not send him letters.
On December 14th, the military authorities announced their position to YTN star that it was “untrue” regarding some media reports that the 5th Division Recruit Training Center had recently asked BTS fans not to send him letters and gifts. The military authorities said, “There are reports in some media channels that the military has officially made this request, but this is not true.”
The article, which turned into an official position of the military authorities, began at The Camp, an online letter agency. In the 5th Division community within The Camp, a posted notice reads, “If too many letters are sent at once, the server will be down and other trainees will not be able to check their letters. Please never send handwritten letters or parcels.”
The post garnered attention among BTS fans, and some media outlets reported it as the military’s official position. However, it was confirmed that the military never officially made such a request.
The first person who posted the article also explained in a phone call with the reporter, “I am not a military official. I did not receive an official request from the unit.” This person, who has been managing the community since 2018, also apologized, saying, “I am sorry that my post with good intentions led to an unexpected misunderstanding.”
The Camp also explained, “This post has nothing to do with the military authorities or the official position of The Camp. There is no fear that the server will go down due to overload caused by too many letters.”
In addition, The Camp said, “The Camp is currently preparing to operate an artist-only camp room. We plan to provide a separate service for fans of celebrity soldiers who will enlist in the military in the future, including BTS’s Jin. The concept of a personal mailbox will provide a better channel for communication.”
