“The Glory” star Cha Joo Young to take on a lead role in new tvN drama 

Cha Joo Young has been cast as the lead in the new tvN drama “Won Gyeong.”

According to Sports Chosun on May 9th, Cha Joo Young has been cast as the lead in the new tvN drama “Won Gyeong” (literal title). “Won Gyeong” tells the story of Queen Won Gyeong who teamed up with Taejong Yi Bang Won to seize the throne, and is scheduled to air in the first half of next year.

Debuting in the 2016 tvN drama “Cheese in the Trap,” Cha Joo Young has appeared in various supporting roles in dramas such as “Love in the Moonlight,” “The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop,” “My Love from the Star,” and “Again My Life.”

Recently, Cha Joo Young garnered attention for her portrayal of Choi Hye Jeong, one of the five perpetrators of school violence against Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), in “The Glory.”

Unlike Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon), Jeon Jae Joon (Park Sung Hoon), and Lee Sa Ra (Kim Hieora), who are all from wealthy backgrounds, Choi Hye Jeong is the daughter of a laundry business owner and received the same treatment as Son Myung Oh (Kim Gun Woo) within the group of five.

After becoming an adult, she worked as a flight attendant and dreamed of climbing the social ladder through marriage, but she became embroiled in conflicts within the group of five when she was exposed by Moon Dong Eun, becoming a crucial point in Moon Dong Eun’s revenge.

Cha Joo Young, who gained attention through “The Glory,” is currently playing Jang Se Jin, the first love and secretary of Kong Tae Kyung (Ahn Jae Hyun), in KBS2’s weekend drama “The Real Has Come.”
