Taylor Swift’s Ex-Boyfriend Banned from Malaysia Concert After Same-Sex Kiss, Faces Up to 20 Years in Prison

Taylor Swift’s ex, The 1975’s Matty Healy, has been banned from performing in Malaysia after kissing his male bandmate on stage.

According to foreign reports on July 21st (local time), Matty Healy of The 1975 was prohibited from performing in Malaysia after kissing a male bandmate on stage, in violation of Malaysia’s strict LGBTQIA+ prohibition laws.

During the Good Vibes Festival in Kuala Lumpur last Friday, Matty Healy delivered a lengthy speech criticizing the policies of some Asian countries. He considered canceling the concert due to his beliefs but stated that he didn’t want to punish his fans.

Subsequently, Matty Healy approached The 1975’s bassist and gave him a long kiss. Under Malaysian law, same-sex acts are illegal and could result in a maximum of 20 years in prison, along with corporal punishment.

Following the incident, the Good Vibes Festival’s organizer released a statement announcing the cancellation of the event for three days due to Matty Healy’s remarks and actions.

A source close to the band stated, “Matty has a long history of advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community, and the band wanted to show support for LGBTQIA+ fans and community.” In 2019, during a concert in Dubai, where homosexuality is also illegal, Matty Healy kissed a male fan.

Matty Healy recently made headlines for his relationship with Taylor Swift. However, the two broke up just one month after they started dating.
