As actor Song Joong Ki recently became a father, his interview prior to the birth of the baby is being re-examined.
Before his wife Katy gave birth to their child, Song Joong Ki had an interview with the Chinese media Sina. The media asked, “Your fans say you have a ‘baby face’. Do you want to change or expand your image at this age?”. In response, Song Joong Ki said, “I don’t care about that. I’m not afraid of getting older. Thank you for complimenting me that I have a baby face, but I’m going to be a father soon. I’m not worried about being baby-faced, I only care about the baby. I don’t even try to look young. I want to just be natural.”
When asked, “Will there be any change after you become a father?”, Song Joong Ki replied, “Of course. Becoming a father is the biggest event in my life. I’ve always dreamed of becoming a father. I really love my dad, and I think all of my best things were influenced by my dad. I’ve had the dream of becoming a good father like him since I was young.”
The actor continued, “I’m very happy about becoming a father, but I also have some fears. I’ve been wondering, ‘Will I be able to be a good father?’. My wife and I talk about it a lot, and we are determined to take on this challenge and do everything we can. We believe that we can do it.”
Song Joong Ki received double good news as he was invited to the 76th Cannes Film Festival for the movie “Hopeless”. The media commented, “Your movie is going to have a screening in Cannes and you’re about to welcome your baby. You achieve two things at one time. How do you feel?”.
Song Joong Ki replied, “In the entertainment industry, becoming a father and a husband can also mean actors will be losing their jobs. It seems that getting married and having a baby may gradually make me lose many projects. However, I’m not afraid of that. I don’t care about such things. Family is always more important than work. But I love my work, and I always strive for both myself and my family. I can be a good actor, a good person, a good father, a good husband, and a good son to my parents at the same time.”
Song Joong Ki married British actress Katy Louise Saunders in January and announced her pregnancy at the same time. After attending the 76th Cannes Film Festival for the movie “Hopeless” with his Katy, Song Joong Ki went to his wife’s hometown Rome, Italy to prepare for her childbirth. Later on June 14th, Song joong Ki announced on his fancafe, saying “I finally met my child in Rome, my wife’s hometown. He’s a healthy son”, and received warm congratulations.
