SNSD’s Taeyeon joins the public’s wrath regarding “The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won” animal abuse controversy
Singer Taeyeon expressed anger over the controversy over animal abuse in the drama “The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won.”
Taeyeon said on her Instagram story on Jan 22nd, “My heart aches and I shed tears so much that it’s hard to watch the video. And I’m angry,” posting an article by KARA (Korea Animal Right Advocates).
Taeyeon said, “I can’t believe we’re doing this kind of filming in this world… This is too terrible for both humans and animals. Was there anyone who ran straight to that horse and checked its condition? Whose idea is it?” She also criticized the production team, saying, “That ridiculous way of filming…”
Earlier, “The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won” was embroiled in controversy over animal abuse after tying wires to the legs of a horse and pulling it when filming Lee Sung-gye (Kim Young-chul)’s fall scene in the seventh episode. Since then, the horse has reportedly died, raising criticism among netizens, actors, and industry officials.
