SM’s Girls Generation vs. JYP’s TWICE vs. YG’s BLACKPINK… A comeback battle between BIG 3’s representative girl groups to happen this August

The representative girl groups of “BIG 3 entertainment companies” SM, JYP and YG will face off in August. 

First, Girl’s Generation has confirmed to make a group comeback this August. According to SM Entertainment, Girl’s Generation, which debuted on August 5th, 2007 with the single “Into The New World”, will release a new album as a gift for fans to mark their 15th debut anniversary this year.

In particular, this will be the girl group’s first comeback in 5 years since the release of their 6th full album “Holiday Night” in August 2017. K-pop fans are looking forward to Girls’ Generation’s upcoming full album with the participation of all 8 members. 

Ahead of their comeback, Girls’ Generation is meeting fans through JTBC’s entertainment program “Soshi Tamtam”. Going on a friendship trip to celebrate their 15th debut anniversary, the members are bringing laughter to fans with their “real chemistry”.

In addition, Girls’ Generation also plans to perform as a whole group at “SM TOWN LIVE” concert, which is scheduled to be held at Suwon World Cup Stadium on August 20th.

TWICE also confirmed August 26th as their comeback date. TWICE’s 11th mini-album is named “BETWEEN 1&2”.

This will be TWICE’s first comeback in about 9 months since the release of their 3rd full album “Formula of Love” on November 12th last year. 

After the news of the members renewing their contracts with JYP Entertainment was officially reported on July 12th, the comeback announcement was immediately made on the following day (July 13th), raising fans’ expectations.

BLACKPINK will also join the comeback competition this August by releasing new songs. According to YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK is in the final stage of their new album recording. The girl group plans to shoot their music video this month and release new songs next month.

It’s been 1 year and 10 months since BLACKPINK’s last comeback with their first full album “THE ALBUM” in October 2020. 

BLACKPINK reportedly holds an in-game concert in a virtual space on July 22-24 and July 29-31. After finishing their comeback promotion, the girls are expected to hold a world tour until the end of the year.
