Rumor of BLACKPINK Jennie joining Marvel Cinematic Universe continues despite YG’s denial

BLACKPINK Jennie is rumored to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Luna Snow.

On June 9 (local time), the media was buzzing with the rumor that BLACKPINK Jennie is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). If the rumor turns out to be true, Jennie will be the cast member of a series centered around an Asian superhero team called Team Agents of Atlas.

Jennie is rumored to play Luna Snow (Seol Hee), a K-pop singer who leads a double life as a superhero with ice manipulation ability. Luna Snow is the protector of the Pacific Rim. She was first introduced in the “Marvel Super War” game in 2020.

In light of the rumor, Marvel fans in Korea showed an overall optimistic response, saying, “It would be interesting if an actual K-pop girl group member was cast”, and “Marvel’s management worked hard to cast Jennie for a long time”. Moreover, some MCU cast members started following the BLACKPINK rapper on Instagram, building more credibility for the information.

Nonetheless, on June 12, YG Entertainment denied the rumors, affirming, “Jennie has not received any offers to appear in the Marvel series ‘Team Agent of Atlas’”.

Regardless, fans are keeping their hopes high. Some argue that the news may be kept within the team behind the MCU or they might have contacted Jennie herself directly, without going through her agency.

Earlier this month, Jennie made her acting debut through the HBO’s series “The Idol” starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd. Nevertheless, the series and Jennie’s choice to appear in it have been drawing mixed reactions from viewers.

More recently, during a concert night in Melbourne on June 11, the rapper had to quit a performance midway due to her poor health condition. The idol is focusing on her health and recovery.
