Real life “Crashing Landing On You”? This actress accidentally went to North Korea

The concept of accidentally arriving in North Korea seems exclusive to “Crash Landing On You”, but it actually happened.

Aired in 2019, “Crash Landing On You” follows the steps of Yoon Se Ri, an heiress to a conglomerate who went paragliding. However, she got caught in a gust of wind while in the sky, and ended up crash-landing in North Korea, where she met North Korean officer Ri Jeong Hyeok. The two eventually fell in love as Ri Jeong Hyeok hid Yoon Se Ri in his house and tried to take her home.

At first glance, Yoon Se Ri’s crash-landing in North Korea seems like something that only happens in fiction. But in fact, this somewhat unbelievable story was based on a real life incident, as shared by writer Park Ji Eun. According to the writer, “Crash Landing On You” was based on the story of actress Jung Yang, who, in 2008, sailed her leisure boat in Incheon, but ended up in North Korea.

After asking a man on the shore about her location and having a conversation, Jung Yang was returned home safely after being tracked and investigated by a North Korean patrol boat.

On the other hand, Jung Yang debuted as a member of the group Cyclo and worked as a singer and actor at the same time. She made her acting debut in the sitcom “Three Friends”, and appeared in the 2010 movie “The Servant” (Bang Ja Jeon). However, the actress has since retired from the entertainment industry, married a Chinese-Australian businessman, and became the mother to 3 children.
