Park Seo Joon, “The works I had filmed during the past 4 years were all delayed and I felt like I was losing my reason for acting”

Park Seo Joon expressed his thoughts on not being able to greet viewers with new works for the past 4 years.

Actor Park Seo Joon, who has expanded his activities beyond Korea with his Hollywood entry in the movie “The Marvels”, recently participated in an interview.

Park Seo Joon plays the male lead Hong Dae, a former football player who is unexpectedly forced to become the coach for a homeless national football team, in the upcoming film “Dream” directed by PD Lee Byeong Heon.

Greeting the public with a movie for the first time in 4 years, Park Seo Joon confessed, “The reason I’m doing this job is that I want to show you all myself. Whether the project receives good or bad feedback, it gives me the energy and meaning to continue working. I had been doing various projects for a long time, but then the years that I couldn’t show you anything made me feel tired. I felt like I was losing my reason for doing this job and it caused me to think a lot.”

Revealing the meaning of his first movie release after 4 years, Park Seo Joon said, “Filming and acting on the set makes me feel alive, but I got tired from waiting for feedback because the work has been hidden for such a long time. If this period had been gotten any longer, I would have thought about taking a break. Through this film, I would be able to spend time meeting the audience and seeing the reactions of people around me. To me, this moment is very important and necessary.”

The actor continued, “I feel like having no place to recharge my energy. It’s common for those my age to have such worries. I think I’ve reached that age. Overcoming this problem is something I have to do, and working hard on what I’m given is not just my personality but also the way I protect myself. Whatever I do, I want to finish it without hesitation. If I take on something, I want to do it in a way that I won’t be ashamed of my performance even if I don’t receive good reviews. if I don’t do my best, I don’t think I can be proud of myself. That’s my driving force, what motivates me to keep going.”

The responsible aspect of Park Seo Joon can be felt in the way he approaches his work and also in his small actions on variety shows.

With a great sense of responsibility, Park Seo Joon is introducing various kinds of works at once this year, from the entertainment program “Jinny’s Kitchen”, to the movies “Dream”, “Concrete Utopia” and Netflix’s series “Gyeongseong Creature”. In this regard, the actor said, “Since some of my projects have been pushed back a little late, all of the films I’ve been working on are going to be released this year. Since I’m currently filming this work but also have to promote another one, my manager is struggling in adjusting my schedule. However, I’ve spent the past four years without a new release, I’m extremely grateful that I can finally let you all see my performances. I’ll try my best in every given situation, and I hope to achieve my goals this year.”

Many things happened during the four years that Park Seo Joon’s movies couldn’t proceed to the theaters. Korean movies were facing the worst time. He said, “It’s not because I feel obligated, but I often visit the theaters. I will continue to go to the theaters and watch movies that are coming out lately. Whether it’s a donation or anything else, I never act with the mindset that my contribution would bring a change and I will just do my best in my role. I noticed that movies that receive good reviews and go viral through word-of-mouth tend to attract more people to the theaters. I will also strive to make good movies. I will also work hard for the promotion since it can raise viewers’ curiosity about our movie. I hope many people will come to the theater to watch ‘Dream’.”

Meanwhile, “Dream” centers around Hong Dae (Park Seo Joon), a conceptless former football player, and passionless PD So Min (IU) challenging impossible dreams with a national football team consisting of homeless people. The film will premiere on April 16th.
