Paul Kim, “My congratulatory song at Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s wedding? We didn’t know each other in real life but I still agreed to their invitation”
Singer Paul Kim revealed how he was able to sing at Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s wedding although he was not an acquaintance of the two actors.
Paul Kim appeared as a guest on MBC FM4U’s “Muzie Date at 2 O’clock, I’m Ahn Young-mi”, which aired on June 17th, and talked about various things.
DJ Ahn Young-mi mentioned when Paul Kim sang a congratulatory song at Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s wedding. When asked about the atmosphere at the wedding, Paul Kim said, “Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin sunbaenims invited me to their wedding first. We actually didn’t know each other in real life.”
Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin tied the knot at their wedding, which was held in March. In addition to Paul Kim, Gummy and Kim Bum-soo and some other singers also sang congratulatory songs at the wedding. In addition, actor Jang Dong-geun also attended and delivered a congratulatory speech.
Paul Kim said, “I won’t sing at any wedding except the ones of my acquaintances. This is because a congratulatory song should be presented with sincere feelings from the bottom of our hearts”, adding, “But I agreed to Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin’s invitation without thinking. I wanted to go there no matter what. I wanted to enjoy the atmosphere filled with many celebrities so I said I was willing to attend.”
Revealing that he was really nervous before singing his song, Paul Kim recalled, “I was very nervous, it was so surreal. I felt so amazing being able to meet Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin, like I was watching a movie. And also, I got more nervous knowing many great actors and directors were sitting in front of me.”
Paul Kim also mentioned Shin Se-kyung, who appeared in the music video of his new song “One More Time”. Paul Kim said he wrote the lyrics for the song while thinking of Shin Se-kyung and told a behind-the-scenes story about inviting the actress to appear in his MV. He said, “I gave the suggestion with the determination to ‘try something big for once’, and luckily I received a positive response.”
Revealing that he felt really embarrassed when acting with Shin Se-kyung, Paul Kim confessed, “After we finished shooting, I told the director that my face didn’t need to be shown and asked him to focus on Shin Se-kyung”, drawing laughter.
Meanwhile, Paul Kim made a comeback on June 14th by releasing his 3rd mini-album “Star”.
