Netizen Connect LE SSERAFIM’s Comeback Trailer Narration to Kim Chaewon’s “Produce 48” Vote Manipulation Allegations

The trailer features Kim Chaewon navigating through a rundown store, colliding with Huh Yunjin. Huh Yunjin struts down the streets with a drink in hand, passing it on to Hong Eunchae, who takes a tumble down the stairs.

Kazuha steps in, donning a tulle skirt, a nod to her past as a pro ballerina. The half-wings symbolize their previous song, “Unforgiven,” where she intentionally shed a wing, rejecting the angelic image.

Sakura is awakened by a forceful kick to her bed, rising from a bed of flowers, possibly a nod to her stage name and Japanese idol career. Breaking through a concrete wall, she endures a nosebleed, defiantly licking off the blood.

A Korean netizen on theqoo pointed out the trailer’s narration a potential reference to Kim Chaewon’s “Produce 48” vote rigging scandal during her time as an IZ*ONE member.

The “correct” debut lineup of IZ*ONE was never disclosed, but speculation arose, particularly regarding Jo Yuri and Kim Chaewon, who faced backlash for their alleged undeserved positions. Kim Chaewon’s company at the time, Woollim Ent, was fined by the court during the controversy.

Despite the controversy, Kim Chaewon persevered and earned recognition within both IZ*ONE and LE SSERAFIM. The narration during scenes featuring Kim Chaewon in the teaser seemingly aligns with her journey.
