Netflix unveils teaser for new webtoon-based drama ‘Mask Girl’: “Are you curious about my face?”

Netflix has dropped the first teaser for ‘Mask Girl,’ which is scheduled to be out on August 18th.

On July 20th, Netflix released the teaser poster and trailer for the upcoming original series ‘Mask Girl.’ The story revolves around Kim Momi, an ordinary office worker with appearance complexes who covers her face with a mask and becomes an internet broadcasting BJ (streamer) at night, getting entangled in an unintended incident.

The unveiled teaser poster captures attention with a unique design, featuring colors, lines, and blood intertwined on the mask, which serves as a symbol of ‘Mask Girl.’ The visually appealing artwork reminiscent of three-dimensional art stimulates anticipation for the diverse narrative that non-conventional characters will unfold.

The accompanying teaser trailer shows ‘Mask Girl’ doing a flashy live broadcast with her face masked. It depicts the explosive development that quickly escalates. Go Hyun Jung, Ahn Jae Hong, Yeom Hye Ran, and Nana showcase intense presence even in the short video.

The screenplay and directing of ‘Mask Girl’ are by director Kim Yong Hoon, who won the Jury Prize at the 49th Rotterdam International Film Festival with his feature debut film ‘Beasts Clawing at Straws.’

Captivated by the powerful, unpredictable story, underlying messages and unconventional characters of the original webtoon ‘Mask Girl,’ Kim Yong Hoon decided to take on the directing.
