NCT’s Jaemin Recalls Leaving SM During Trainee Days, But His Exit Wasn’t By Choice

NCT’s Jaemin shared a story about his departure from SM Entertainment, prompting mixed reactions to the company’s practices.

As NCT DREAM gears up for their upcoming comeback on March 25, Mark, Jaemin, and Haechan recently made an appearance on Yoo Jae Suk’s YouTube channel.

During the discussion, Jaemin recounted his time with SM Entertainment and the circumstances surrounding his departure when Yoo Jae Suk asked about it.

Jaemin confessed that his exit wasn’t by choice but stemmed from an incident involving sneaking in a burger, which led to trouble and subsequently his departure.

When Mark sought clarification, Jaemin affirmed, “It was because I bought myself some burgers.”

Some fans found Jaemin’s anecdote amusing, pondering how things might have unfolded differently had he not returned to SM Entertainment.

Jaemin debuted with NCT DREAM in 2016 at the age of 16, having been a trainee since 2013, joining the company shortly before turning 13.

If Jaemin indeed left SM as a trainee after being caught eating a hamburger, it suggests that his dietary habits were likely closely monitored even during his early teenage years, a notion that shocked many fans who speculated that SM may have subjected trainees to strict dietary restrictions.
