Kim Young-dae, “Going public with a relationship? If you sincerely like someone, there’s no need to hide it”

Actor Kim Young-dae revealed his thoughts on going public with a romantic relationship.

On June 13th, Kim Young-dae conducted an interview with Newsen at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul and expressed his feelings after tvN’s drama “Shooting Stars” ended.

Earlier in the final episode of “Shooting Stars”, top star Gong Tae-sung (played by Kim Yong-dae) publicizes his romantic relationship with Oh Han-byul (Lee Sung-kyung), head of the public relations team, after dating secretly for a long time.

In the interview, Kim Yong-dae proudly showed deep sympathy for Gong Tae-sung and Oh Han-byul’s decision to go public with their relationship. Showing support for public dating, the actor said, “If you really have someone you sincerely love, you don’t have to hide it.”

He continued, “Of course, you should be careful in some parts. Dating originally requires careful consideration and I think you should be responsible for your relationship. If it is a decision made carefully after much consideration, I think you don’t need to hide it.”

In addition, Kim Young-dae recalled the confession that his character made to Oh Han-byul in the drama and described the style of lover he is. Kim Young-dae said, “I think I will also make a confession like that. I don’t think I can express my feelings well when I have a crush on someone, but I will definitely confess and won’t let it be just a one-sided love.”

He added, “Rather than acting in the scenes of jealousy, I actually did it in real life. I often get jealous and worried when I’m in a relationship, but I won’t express it directly. I will pretend to be normal.”

Meanwhile, Kim Young-dae debuted in 2017 with the web drama “Secret Crushes: Special Edition” then made his face known to the public by appearing in MBC’s drama “Extraordinary You” and SBS’s “Penthouse” series 1 to 3. He will make a comeback through MBC’s fusion romance historical drama “Joseon’s Ban on Marriage”, which is scheduled to air in the second half of this year.
