On January 11, several online communities shared posts titled “NCT’s Haechan caught smoking indoors in the practice room”.
In these posts, a footage of Haechan in the practice room is attached, showing Haechan bringing an object to his mouth and then putting it down twice. The object is suspected to be an e-cigarette, sparking speculations of indoor smoking.
It is also known that this footage was originally included in the “Be There For Me” dance practice behind-the-scenes video, which was published on the official YouTube channel of NCT 127 on January 10.
However, the scene, which was initially at the timestamp 5:58 to 6:10, has since been removed, adding to indoor smoking suspicions.
Among fans, there have been debates about the identity of the object Haechan brought to his mouth. Some argue it might be a type of energy bar since no smoke was visible, while most believe it appears to be an e-cigarette.
It has been confirmed that some netizens on online communities have already filed complaints under the title “NCT’s Haechan indoor smoking”.
Previously, in September of last year, EXO member and actor D.O. (Do Kyungsoo) was accused of smoking an e-cigarette in the waiting room of a music broadcast show.
Considering the previous controversy involving another artist from the same agency, opinions suggest that if Haechan is indeed doing indoor smoking with an e-cigarette, he should take careful consideration.
Meanwhile, on January 10, SM Entertainment announced that Haechan would temporarily suspend activities, including attendance at award ceremonies, due to symptoms of high fever and body aches. Haechan, who was in Japan for scheduled activities, reportedly experienced severe symptoms of tonsillitis with a high fever, requiring rest and stability.
