NewJeans Not as Pretty as Jang Wonyoung, Karina, Sullyoon, Yuna?

The visuals of NewJeans are being compared with that of other female idols

Recently, a Korean forum began to compare 4th Gen visuals, including Jang Wonyoung (IVE), Karina (aespa), and Sullyoon (before), which has sparked controversy.

Discussions about NewJeans’ visual has sparked controversy

Meanwhile, “K-pop group’s visuals are always the most talked-about topic in Korean media. In fact, each generation of the industry has its recognized visual representatives, such as Eugene and Lee Hyori for the 1st gen, Suzy for the 2nd gen, as well as Red Velvet’s Irene and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo for the 3rd gen”.

Now, with the 4th generation, the “visual” title is hotter than ever,

According to many Korean fans, Jang Wonyoung and Karina are the most prominent names to the public, but Sullyoon (NMIXX) or Yuna (ITZY) are also highly nominated for said title.

Meanwhile, the “public pick” NewJeans was not highly regarded.

In particular, NewJeans took a different direction from the majority of Kpop girl groups from their debut. Under the direction of Min Hee-jin, NewJeans’ lineup is “harmonious” and “even” with the aim of bringing a fresh, dynamic, and Y2K-oriented spirit.

Among the girl group, the “visual member” in Korea is none other than Haerin, who has a sophisticated and cat-like appearance with sharp facial features that set her apart. However, Haerin is rarely listed among the top visuals for Kpop 4th gen.

To specify, many netizens agree with the opinion that NewJeans is cute but not yet at the level to be compared to Jang Wonyoung, Karina, Sullyoon and Yuna. However, as appearance is a matter of taste with “trends” arising every now and then, it is more important for NewJeans to have their own colors.
