Recently, well-known Japanese street photographer SANKYO uploaded a video titled “Streetphotography of strangers vol.309” to his social media account.

The video shows SANKYO approaching a stylish passerby he spotted in Tokyo’s Tsukishima neighborhood. Curious about the man’s appearance, the photographer asked where he was from, and the man replied in English that he was from South Korea.

When SANKYO asked about his profession, Jung Il Woo introduced himself as an actor. He also casually promoted his latest project, asking viewers to support the Amazon Prime Original series Criminal.

At the time of filming, SANKYO reportedly had no idea that the man he was interviewing was one of South Korea’s well-known actors. After the video was uploaded, Korean and Japanese fans quickly filled the comment section, identifying Jung Il Woo and explaining his popularity. The clip soon spread widely across social media.

Alongside the video, SANKYO also shared several street-style photographs featuring Jung Il Woo dressed in an all-black outfit. Posing naturally against the backdrop of Tokyo’s streets and alleyways, the actor looked effortlessly stylish, drawing praise for his model-like visuals despite blending in with the crowd moments earlier.

Fans reacted enthusiastically, leaving comments such as, “Actors really have a different aura,” “He would stand out anywhere,” “His presence is incredible even in Japan,” “It looks like a magazine photoshoot even though it happened by chance,” and “No wonder the photographer was impressed.”

Earlier this month, Jung Il Woo also promoted Criminal through his own social media accounts, announcing in Korean, Japanese, and English that the Amazon Prime Original series premiered worldwide on July 17.

Jung Il Woo made his acting debut in 2006 through the hit MBC sitcom High Kick!. Since then, he has built a successful career with leading roles in dramas including The Return of Iljimae, Moon Embracing the Sun, Diary of a Night Watchman, and Bossam: Steal the Fate, continuing to establish himself as one of Korea’s most recognizable actors.
