Nam Joo-hyuk’s side, “The school bullying rumor is not true. We will file a criminal complaint”
Nam Joo-hyuk’s agency denied the school bullying allegation.
On June 20th, Management SOOP announced their official position on Nam Joo-hyuk’s school bullying suspicion.
The agency said, “After checking the issue in the initial article with the actor, we confirmed that all of the content was not true at all. In addition, it’s a regret that the media unilaterally published their article without confirming the fact with our agency and actor.”
They expressed their intention to respond strictly to the issue, saying, “We will immediately apply to the Press Arbitration Commission for information correction and demand the media outlet take responsibility for seriously damaging our actor’s reputation with their false report. We will also file a criminal complaint against the media reporter and anonymous informant who made the initial report. To proceed with legal actions, we have requested help from our legal advisors. This step is currently in progress.”
They also said, “It is the actor and his family who suffer the most from this vague and false gossip rumor that broke out without confirmation. We feel truly miserable and sad that our agency and the actor would be branded with a bad impression because of articles that were published based on some random rumors on the Internet with a vague expression of ‘true or not’ even when we confirm it as ‘false rumor’.”
The agency emphasized once again, “After this incident, our agency will demand legal responsibility for any unilateral claims that are posted online (SNS, Youtube) without a clear fact-checking process. Above all, we will strongly respond to exaggerated interpretations and malicious actions that go beyond simple expressions of opinion and encourage malicious posts, comments, etc. We will also take legal action against malicious acts based on data we collected and monitored before.”
Earlier on the same day, The Days raised suspicion of school bullying, citing an informant who claimed to have been bullied by Nam Joo-hyuk in the past.
