“Drug-Tax Delinquency” Park Yoochun Opens SNS After Saying He Will Retire “Will He Return to the Entertainment Industry?”

Singer-actor Park Yoochun opened a new SNS account, sparking speculation that he might be planning to resume his activities in Korea

Park Yoochun’s brother, actor Park Yoohwan, announced through his X (formerly Twitter), “Hi everyone! Letting everyone know that Mr. Park (Park Yoochun) has created his own Instagram.”

On Park Yoochun’s account, photos of him visiting a temple in Japan with his brother can be found.

Park Yoochun was prosecuted for drug use in 2019 and was sentenced to ten months imprisonment, suspended for two years. At the time, he held an urgent press conference and vehemently denied the allegations, stating, “I did not use drugs. If I had, I would retire from the entertainment industry.”

However, Park Yoochun tested positive for drugs, and his drug use was confirmed, leading to his expulsion from the entertainment industry.

In December last year, he also made headlines for being listed as a habitual tax defaulter by the National Tax Service. It was reported that he had failed to pay a total of about 400 million won in taxes, including five cases of capital gains tax evasion in 2016.

Although it seemed like Park Yoochun had left the entertainment industry, he reversed his retirement after just one year and began to make moves towards returning to showbiz. From Feb 9th to 11th, he held fan meetings and dinner shows in Japan to commemorate his 20th debut anniversary.

Additionally, the fact that ticket prices for overseas fans were sold at a very high price also contributed to public disapproval.

Amidst the ongoing noise surrounding Park Yoochun, the opening of his personal account has caused a stir among netizens.

However, as the domestic public opinion towards Park Yoochun remains cold, his return to the Korean entertainment industry is not expected to be easy. The public’s attention is now focused on what steps he will take next.
