Male singer who confessed to being gaslighted and having all his assets extorted by an acquaintance
The anecdote in which Shinhwa's Lee Min-woo confessed that he was extorted all his properties and gaslighted by his friend of 20 years is being re-examined
Last October, Lee Min-woo appeared on Channel A’s “Best Friend Talk Documentary Table For 4” and shared, “Celebrities easily become scam targets. They get scammed by close acquaintances rather than strangers.”
In particular, he shocked everyone by saying, “In my case, I not only experienced deception but also severe gaslighting. I was severely gaslighted.” He stated that his acquaintance coveted his money and approached him in a planned manner.
Lee Min-woo recalled, “They extorted all the properties I had earned so far. When I wanted to hide, that person reached out for me. They looked nice.”

Lee Min-woo continued, “Due to threats using my most precious family and Shinhwa’s activities, I couldn’t tell anyone the truth. For 3 years, I suffered severe mental humiliation. After receiving psychiatric treatment, I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).“
He added, “Despite knowing the malicious intent to swindle money, I fell into it. Looking back now, it wasn’t really my life. I was under some sort of control. I even thought about dying.” He concluded, “Thinking of my family helped me regain my composure.“
