Following Lee Sun Kyun‘s passing, the police arrested a woman attempting to extort 50 million won from the late actor.
On December 29, the Incheon Police Department’s drug crime investigation unit revealed the arrest and charges against a 42-year-old plastic surgery doctor named A from Gangnam, Seoul.
A is accused of supplying drugs to a female bar manager, who then distributed them to Lee Sun Kyun and others.
Investigation findings indicate that A himself was involved in drug use, supported by positive drug test results. Despite a prior court rejection of the police’s arrest request, deeming detention unnecessary for the investigation, a renewed warrant has now been approved. A’s case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
Lee Sun Kyun admitted to snorting powder, thinking it was a prescribed sleep aid from the bar manager. The bar manager, when questioned by the police, admitted to using drugs with Lee Sun Kyun on five occasions.
As the drug investigation unfolded, Lee Sun Kyun filed a lawsuit against the bar manager and accomplices for extortion. Specifically, he sent 300 million won to the bar manager and 50 million won to the accomplice. The accomplice blackmailing Lee Sun Kyun, arrested on December 28 for failure to appear in court and showing signs of intending to flee, had a child with her—a suspected tactic to mitigate the charges.
