Korean Media Points Out Lacking Points Of Han Hyo-joo As Big Knife In “Believer 2”

Sports Seoul believe the character doesn’t suit Han Hyo-joo

After Netflix’s “Believer 2” was released on October 27th, many viewers compared Han’s performance as Big Knife to her predecessors, Jin Ha-rim (played by the late Kim Joo-hyuk) and Boryeong (played by Jin Seo-yeon) of “Believer 1.” Sports Seoul recently made an article pointing out Han Hyo-joo’s lacking points in her latest movie.

Sports Seoul believes Han’s appearance was well-prepared. Her beauty was completely erased with dirty skin, large glasses, muscled arms and legs, as well as the deep cuts on her stomach and sides.

However, it was not enough for the actress to achieve acting transformation. According to Sports Seoul, Han Hyo-ju could not portray the aura of Big Knife as she did not show strong power in her speech, actions, or eyes. Big Knife needed more madness.

The character’s pain that she was never recognized by her respected teacher Lee was expressed only in dialogue. The anxiety and pain of neglect in childhood have not been expressed all over her body. Therefore, the scene of Big Knife confronting Brian (played by Cha Seung-won) did not leave a deep impression.

Sports Seoul’s article stressed that “Believer 2” has been criticized as there are many points that long-time “Believer” fans are uncomfortable with, such as turning “Believer” with a unique plot to a common and obvious revenge drama movie, or another character became the final winner instead of Seo Young-rak and Cho Won-ho.

On top of that, Han Hyo-joo’s acting left a regret, adding to the dislike of “Believer 2.” Efforts are clearly visible, but success does not follow.
