“My Wife Got Married”: Kim Joo-hyuk and Son Ye-jin were the first ones in the world to film a movie at Camp Nou

The 2008 film “My Wife Got Married” starring Kim Joo-hyuk and Son Ye-jin was filmed at Camp Nou, the home stadium of FC Barcelona, a prestigious club in the Spanish La Liga.

The day of filming was when an actual match took place, which is unprecedented not only in Korea but also in the whole world. With this, “My Wife Got Married” became the world’s first movie to be filmed at Camp Nou during a match.

There is an interesting behind-the-scenes story about the filming. The production team went back and forth for over 3 months to negotiate with FC Barcelona. At the same time, Kim Dong-ho, executive director of the Busan International Film Festival, was staying in Spain, so with his help, the negotiations were able to proceed smoothly.

Interestingly, there was an unfamiliar copyright called the right of using audio among discussions regarding the approval of use of FC Barcelona’s stadium, which is the copyright for the shouts of over 100,000 spectators. The payment fee for this right of using alone was 20 million won, so the production team had to pay the copyright.
