Kim Byung Chul gains attention in Uhm Jung Hwa’s latest drama: An actor of many colors who boasts a potential romance with Yoon Se Ah
Kim Byung Chul is gaining praise for his acting performance in “Doctor Cha” starring Uhm Jung Hwa.
“Doctor Cha” is JTBC’s newest drama. Onto the second week of airing, the series garnered a two-digit rating of 11.2%, almost a double of its first-week rating of 5%. This serves as a proof of the exceptional growth in popularity of the drama.
Apart from Uhm Jung Hwa, viewers are also showing much interest in Kim Byung Chul, who plays the perfectionist husband Seo In Ho. It is due to him that Cha Jung Sook (Uhm Jung Hwa) decides to redo her entire life. Able to pull off a hated character, the actor is gaining attention from the public.
Kim Byung Chul is a familiar face in the drama scene for various supporting roles. He was born in 1974 and started acting in 2003 with a minor role in “Once Upon a Time in a Battlefield”. In 2016, he took up a supporting role in the hit drama series, “Descendants of the Sun”.
Two years after that, he appeared as a supporting actor on “SKY Castle” and received the first second-lead roles in “Doctor Prison” and “Sisyphus: The Myth”. Nonetheless, his appearances in those dramas were not as memorable as his other acting roles. “Doctor Cha” in 2023 is Kim Byung Chul’s first ever lead role in a drama series after years and years of working in the industry.
“SKY Castle” is also where Kim Byung Chul met Yoon Se Ah. In the series, they transformed in a married couple. More notably, the couple also shared intimate gestures to the opposite off-camera. One of their castmates, Jo Jae Yoon, said that both Yoon Se Ah and Kim Byung Chul are single, and are very close in real life. Jo Jae Yoon also revealed that Kim Byung Chul said he liked Yoon Se Ah, when asked how he felt about her. As the signs grow more powerful of a potential romance, the filming crew as well as fans are more than happy to see the two becoming an item.
