KBS claimed in a statement on January 12th that “The report on Lee Sun-kyun‘s alleged drug administration on November 24th last year went through various reporting and verification processes to reveal the true nature of the incident, and the related contents were restrained as much as possible.”
“The recording used in the report was used very limitedly because it was not far from the allegations, and because it supported the credibility of the relevant claims,” it said, adding, “The KBS report was released about a month before his death, and it is impossible to connect it with the background of the death.”
It also stressed, “The Association of Solidarity of Cultural Artists mentioned in its statement as if KBS had reported the recording on the day before Lee’s death (December 26 last year), but KBS 9 o’clock News did not report it on that date.”
Earlier, the Association of Solidarity of Cultural Artists issued a statement titled “Demand of Cultural Artists After the Death of the Late Actor Lee Sun-kyun.” In this statement, they pointed out the problems of police investigation security and criticized the media’s reckless reporting behavior.
In particular, referring to KBS, which reported a private recording of the late Lee Sun-kyun, the association demanded KBS’s report to be deleted.
