KBS announces legal action against “g.o.d’s concert” scalping, “Free tickets are being sold at 300,000 won?”

Free tickets for the concert of “Korea’s legendary group” g.o.d got sold out quickly but are being resold online.

On August 9th, ticket sale for g.o.d’s concert was opened. This concert is planned as part of KBS’s grand project to celebrate their 50th anniversary and g.o.d’s 25th debut anniversary.

Regarding the ticketing of g.o.d’s concert, KBS made a press release, announcing that “all tickets were sold out within 3 minutes after the ticket sale started”. They also emphasized that 51,900 people were in the waiting line to access the site and buy tickets.

Tickets for g.o.d’s concert were really sold out in 3 minutes. However, many have been put up on the secondhand trading website on the 10th for transfer and resell. All tickets for this concert are free, but some netizens are attempting to resell them. In particular, someone even set a deal of 300,000 won. This action is considered “ticketing scalping”. Some netizens are making trading posts on SNS, offering a price for those free tickets.

Amid the emergence of scalpers, g.o.d’s concert organizer KBS announced that they would take strong legal action against ticket scalping.

G.O.D Concert

Regarding the ticket scalping situation, a KBS official said to Star News, “We have recently found tickets for our concert are being sold on social media and trading sites”. They continued, “KBS strongly warns you that we will keep monitoring SNS pages and websites to follow the situation and take legal action if we detect any scalping cases. In addition, KBS would like to announce that personal identification for up to 200 entries of each standing section would be carried out at g.o.d’s concert. Entry will be denied if the ticket holder’s ID is different from that of the ticket buyer.”

The official added, “Ticket scalping is not the problem that happens only to g.o.d’s concert. Ticket scalping using macros and similar methods has occurred frequently at famous concerts. It has become a challenge that is not easy to solve, even for ticket platforms. Therefore, we ask you to not undermine the purpose of free concerts by trading tickets. KBS will take firm action if high-value transactions are found.”

Meanwhile, g.o.d’s concert will be held at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park, Incheon at 6:30 p.m. on September 9th. It will be broadcasted for the first time on KBS 2TV at 8:30 p.m. on September 28th.
