Jo Jung Min to take legal action against fake news, “I’m not getting married”

Singer Jo Jung Min expressed anger at the fake news directed at her and declared a strong response.

On February 22nd, an official from Jo Jung Min’s agency said, “We confirmed that there are several YouTube channels that spread fake news about our artist Jo Jung Min. In the meantime, we have corrected the wrong content by requesting deletion. However, now that fake news is overflowing to the point where it is difficult to do anything anymore, we are going to take legal action against channels spreading fake news to protect our artist. We will proceed with civil and criminal complaints.”

Recently, criticism that fake news about Korean celebrities has gone too far has been growing. In the midst of this, Jo Jung Min is also suffering from fake news that she is getting married in April.

A YouTube channel reported news of Jo Jung Min’s fake marriage under the guise of entertainment news. The channel introduced in detail the time and place of Jo Jung Min’s wedding, and even the job of her groom-to-be.

However, Jo Jung Min’s agency said it was not true. In fact, there are no posts about anything related to a wedding  on Jo Jung Min’s social media like the channel claimed.

Lim Seong Bin, an attorney at Hongik Law Firm, who represented Jo Jung Min in the lawsuit, sent a strong warning to YouTubers who create and share fake news, saying, “We will respond with a zero-tolerance principle without consultation and leniency to protect the rights and interests of Jo Jung Min.”
