“Squid Game” breakout stars after a year: Jung Ho Yeon is active in Hollywood, Lee Yoo Mi is an Emmy winner 

Here are the current whereabouts of the young cast of “Squid Game”.

In September 2021, “Squid Game” was released on Netflix and became a global phenomenon. The overwhelming success of “Squid Game” helped the young actors in the cast enjoy overnight popularity. Let’s see how they are doing after a year.

Jung Ho Yeon 

Starting out as a model, Jung Ho Yeon luckily landed the first role of her acting career in the sensation “Squid Game”. She won “Female Actor in a Drama Series” at the prestigious SAG Awards. Her debut role has become her most successful performance that is tough to surpass.

In addition, she was appointed the global ambassador for luxury brands Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, and Chanel. The young star also has the honor to join Hollywood actors in huge projects. She is acting in “Governesses” with Lily-Rose Depp, Renat Janezeb, and in “Disclaimer” with Cate Blanchett. 

Lee Yoo Mi

Being cast in a supporting role of “Squid Game” has earned Lee Yoo Mi her first big break. She even made history by winning an Emmy for her performance in “Squid Game”. She recently took home the “Outstanding Guest Actress” award at the 2022 Emmys.

After “Squid Game”, she continued to gain great attention with a role in Netflix’s hit series “All Of Us Are Dead”. She is currently appearing in tvN’s “Mental Coach Jegal” as a leading character. 

Wi Ha Joon

Wi Ha Joon’s cop role in “Squid Game” took his popularity to a whole different level. From consistently taking on supporting and side characters, he was cast in lead roles after “Squid Game”. He led “Bad And Crazy” alongside Lee Dong Wook and recently joined the star-studded drama “Little Women” as part of the main cast.

Although he has yet to become an A-lister, following “Squid Game”, Wi Ha Joon’s overflowing charm showcased in every role has continued to land him more attractive offers. 

Lee Jung Jun

Although he only had 10-second screen time in “Squid Game”, Lee Jung Jun’s handsome visuals still managed to steal viewers’ hearts. Playing a guard who died early in the series, the moment Lee Jung Jun took off his mask was viral enough to make him popular.

After “Squid Game”, he took on a minor role in “Tomorrow”. Born in 1999, Lee Jung Jun has yet to receive many opportunities compared to the rest of “Squid Game” young cast. However, with his potential, he is expected to achieve more success in the near future.
