Previously Jeon Somi dropped a TikTok video showing her sipping from a Starbucks tumbler, raising speculations that the female idol was doing a paid promotion from the brand.
However, Starbucks is currently the target of a major boycott movement, after the brand tried to stop the Starbucks Workers’ union from using its name and logo in support of Palestine, which has been suffering from airstrikes and armed attacks.
It is known that Starbucks sued their employees for trademark infringement, claiming that the union’s post in support of Palestine “angered customers” and is potentially “damaging” to the brand’s reputation.
As a result, fans and netizens alike expressed disappointment in Somi, calling her out for supporting Starbucks despite being constantly online and likely aware of the ongoing boycott.
Ever since, the female idol has become active on TikTok again, with negative words flooding her new videos.
In particular, comments such as, “Where is your Starbuck cup with full blood?”, “You forget your cup”, and “Starbuck queen!” (mocking tone) can be seen all over Somi’s latest video.
These netizens in particular, were mad that Somi never apologized for the Starbucks video.
Of course, some still defended Somi, but it is undeniable that her image has been ruined in the eyes of many.
