Jang Hyuk returns with a spy comedy “Family: The Unbreakable Bond”, resurrects his career following major military scandal, and enjoys a fulfilled family life with wife and kids 

Jang Hyuk returns with the comedy drama “Family: The Unbreakable Bond, affirming himself as an A-lister. 

“Family: The Unbreakable Bond” is the fourth drama Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara work together. It is also the actress’ returning drama after getting married last year. The drama is off to a good start with considerable ratings for the first two episodes. Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara continue to be the center of attention for their acting and visuals. Particularly, Jang Hyuk stood out as Kwon Do Hoon, a black agent of the National Intelligence Service who disguises as an employee of a trading company.

Jang Hyuk was born in 1976. The actor is known for a sharp jawline, masculine features, and an overall handsomeness. In 1997, Jang Hyuk debuted in a small role, as Joon Ho, in the TV drama “Model.” In 1999, he appeared in two drama series, “School” and “Into the Sunlight”, signaling a turn in his career. In 2001, Jang Hyuk got his first ever lead role in the movie “Volcano High”. The movie’s popularity at the time brought about a higher status for the actor. He rose to fame with “Jung Juice” and “Successful Story of a Bright Girl” – where he first met and worked with Jang Nara.

Jang Hyuk was at the height of his career when the miliary scandal broke out in 2004. The actor received backlash from the public and lost many commercial deals. Informants from inside the industry said Jang Hyuk’s company did not want his career to be disrupted when it was at its peak, which led to the unfortunate event. In response, Jang Hyuk joined the army to redeem himself. 

Following his military discharge, Jang Hyuk regained the audience’s interest with “Thank You”, a drama series on the harsh reality of a single mother and her daughter who has HIV. Great plotline drew viewers in and allowed them to forget about the actor’s past mistakes just for a moment to enjoy the acting on-screen.

In 2010, Jang Hyuk won the Daesang award at the KBS Drama Awards with “The Slave Hunters”. He also received an Emmy nomination in “Best Actor” category in early 2011 for the same role. 

Regarding his personal life, Jang Hyuk got married in 2008 with Kim Yeo Jin, a Pilates instructor who is 2 years older than him. He fell in love at first sight and pursued her relentlessly. It was revealed the actor also registered for one of Yeo Jin’s classes so that he could approach her. Jang Hyuk’s wife has always been by his side, even when the military scandal took place.
