IVE releases teaser for debut song ‘ELEVEN’: Knetizens thinks this is a combination of BLACKPINK and EVERGLOW

IVE finally revealed a small segment of their debut song ‘ELEVEN’, but Korean netizens were left feeling disappointed because things didn’t go as they expected.

IVE is an upcoming girl group under Starship Entertainment with six members including Wonyoung, Yujin, Liz, Rei, Gaeul, and Leeseo.  The group is currently receiving a lot of attention from Korean netizens, not only because Jang Wonyoung and Ahn Yujin were IZ*ONE members but also because of the outstanding visuals and talents of each member.

Starship has set IVE‘s debut date to be December 1, 2021. The group will release their first single called ‘Eleven‘ to the public.  Currently, the members are in the process of introducing themselves through the ‘Show What I Have‘ video series as well as teasing concept photos and debut MV teaser respectively.

On the afternoon of November 28, Starship released a teaser for the MV for IVE‘s debut song ‘ELEVEN‘.  In the teaser that lasted less than 20 seconds, the 6 members appeared in turn and showed off their outstanding visuals.  In addition, a melody line of the song ‘ELEVEN‘ was also revealed with the catchy numbering verse: ‘One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven.  You make me feel like Eleven’.

Many Korean netizens had been extremely excited and had high expectations for this group since IVE announced the lineup of members because they see the potential in the girls. Many people believed that if the group’s debut MV includes a good song and a suitable concept, the group would quickly become a formidable opponent to other 4th generation girl groups. However, the only thing that Knetizens appear to be feeling right now is disappointment and displeasure.

Knetizens stated that they were anticipating a debut song with a bright melody and a high teen concept because it matched the auras of all six members of IVE. However, what they saw in the MV was the song and concept that was identical to the combination of EVERGLOW and BLACKPINK. Knetizens determined that while this is not a bad idea, it is not unique enough to draw a distinctive IVE. As a result, many people are criticizing Starship for selecting the wrong song and concept for IVE at the start of their career.

However, there are also those who think that the reason Knetizens are disappointed is because of the high expectations they have placed on IVE.  On the other hand, some Knetizens speculated that maybe Starship wanted to target the international fan base first, so they built IVE concepts like BLACKPINK and EVERGLOW.  In addition, only a very small part of the song has been revealed, so we still have to wait for the full version to evaluate its quality.
