What captures attention is Bekuh Boom’s seemingly nonchalant response to the contract termination. She said, “Excited for this next chapter of my life! Finally out of my 11 year publishing deal! Free to go and do whatever I want. It’s actually crazy. Hoping the next 11 years are even bigger and brighter than the past 11 have been (and hoping I will never be signed anywhere for 11 years ever again).”

Netizens and BLACKPINK fans found themselves divided over Bekuh Boom’s story. Some argue that Bekuh Boom signed the contract with YG herself, contributed to songwriting and production, received full credit, and owns the copyrights, which makes her “cheerful” reaction rather baffling.

This isn’t the first time Bekuh Boom has been the center of controversy. Back in 2022, she caused a stir with a TikTok post where she reimagined the lyrics for BLACKPINK’s “Typa Girl.” In her new lyrics, she appeared dissatisfied with Jennie and subtly implied, “I’m the person they call only when they need help.”

There were even claims that Bekuh Boom unfollowed Jennie and Rosé on Instagram after the two members modified part of the song lyrics. Fans went so far as to request that YG cease working with Bekuh Boom.

However, it’s important to note that these are merely speculations from fans. Prior to the controversy, Bekuh Boom’s post of a photo taken with BLACKPINK touched the hearts of many. At the backstage of a BORN PINK concert in September, she shared a photo with the members, with the caption: “In nearly 10 years, this is the first photo we’ve taken together. Seeing this photo makes me emotional, and my mind is filled with memories. We were all teenagers when we started! Sometimes you can’t know how meaningful a moment is until you look back on it.”

Sharing such a significant moment with BLACKPINK seemed very special to her. Bekuh Boom was instrumental in BLACKPINK’s success, contributing to hits like “Whistle,” “Boombayah,” “Don’t Know What To Do,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” and “Kill This Love.”
