Following the dating news with Lee Jong-suk, IU welcomes another nomination with “Broker” for the 16th “Asian Film Awards”
The singer and actress is nominated for ‘Rookie of the Year’ at the “Asian Film Awards” to be held in March.
The “Asia Film Awards” is a film awards ceremony celebrating Asian films, hosted by the “Hong Kong International Film Festival Society” since March 2007 and is marking its 16th anniversary this year. The 16th AFA will be held in Hong Kong on March 12.
The Society has selected 81 candidates in 16 categories for 30 works produced in 22 Asian regions.
Five domestic works are selected, namely “Decision to Leave,” “Broker,” “Emergency Declaration,” “Alienoid,” and “The Apartment With Two Women.”
“Decision to Leave” is nominated for a total of 10 awards, including ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Screenplay’, ‘Best Actress’, ‘Best Cinematography’, ‘Best Editing’, ‘Best Music’, ‘Best Production Design’ and ‘Best Sound.’
Im Si-wan and Kim So-jin starring in “Emergency Declaration,” are nominated for the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ and ‘Actress’, respectively. “Broker” star IU is nominated for the ‘Rookie of the Year’ Award.
The “Alienoid” Part 1 is nominated for the ‘Best Visual Effects’ and ‘Costume Design’ while “The Apartment With Two Women” is nominated for the ‘Rookie Director’ Award.
IU portrays So-young, a single mother who left her baby in a baby box, in “Broker” which came out in June last year. IU attended the 75th “Cannes International Film Festival” for her role in the movie and won the 42nd “Korea Association of Film Critics Award” for ‘Best New Actress.’
Most recently, at the end of last year, IU admitted dating actor Lee Jong-suk, whom she went from being acquaintance to romantic partner. They have been receiving congratulations from many since their relationship announcement throuhg fan cafe’s letters.
