On the afternoon of January 6th, a video titled “[The Glory] Commentary & Reaction” was published on Netflix Korea’s official YouTube channel.  In the second half of the video, the behind-the-scenes of the exposure scene, where Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) showed her wounds to Ju Yeo Jeong (Lee Do Hyun) for the first time, was revealed.

Here, Kim Eun Sook, the screenwriter of “The Glory”, said, “I had that scene in my mind

from the start, so when we offered the role to Hye Kyo, I told her that I really needed that scene. But it might be uncomfortable for her, so I asked if that was okay with her.”

According to Kim Eun Sook, Song Hye Kyo asked for 2 months. Then, when the screenwriter asked if the actress were going to exercise, Song Hye Kyo answered, “No, I have to lose more weight then.”

“Then, she really did it,” Kim Eun Sook said, adding, “I asked her what she was eating, and she said konjac rice. I was so grateful for her efforts, and also felt bad. So it really made me tear up when I saw the completed scene.”

Finally, Kim Eun Sook expressed her deep gratitude to Song Hye Kyo for filming in a professional way, demanding only 2 months of time, even though it was an exposure scene that could be burdensome for many actresses.

In response, Song Hye Kyo said, “Firstly, after I got the role of Dong-eun, I didn’t think of looking pretty at all. She didn’t have the time or energy to take care of her appearance like that. I thought maybe she isn’t taking care of herself too much as a human being, but it seemed

like something Dong Eun would do, so I really didn’t worry about things like that in this drama.”

The actress also commented, “Especially in this scene, as Ms. Kim mentioned, I wanted the viewers to feel bad for her when they see her skinny body instead of something pretty. I thought that’s where the focus should be.”
